Semantics / Bedeutung

The element <auxiliarySupply> contains the data of the vehicle's auxiliary power supply as needed for consideration of power consumption calculations. This may comprise components like auxiliary converters or auxiliary windings of main transformer.

Attributes of auxiliarySupply / Attribute von auxiliarySupply

  • power: This is the constant power in Watts the auxiliaries consume permanently. Usually the average value of power consumption may given her in order to consider the intermittend operation of auxiliaries.
  • powerPhi: This is the phase shift angle of the appearant power of the auxiliaries related to the permanent value given in power.
  • resistance: This is the ohmic resistance of the auxiliaries permanently present in Ohm. It can be used to model a heating or similar, which has a constant resistance.
  • powerBraking: This is the constant power in Watts the auxiliaries consumes additionally to the permanent values but only in braking mode.
  • powerPhiBraking: This is the pase shift angle of the appearant power of the auxiliaries related to the additional value given in powerBraking.
  • resistanceBraking: This is the ohmic resistance of the auxiliaries in Ohm only present in braking mode. It can be used to model a heating or similar, which has a constant resistance and is switched on only during braking in order to use the brake energy.

Syntactic Constraints / Syntaktische Beschränkungen

It is possible to define several auxiliary systems (from zero to infinite) per vehicles. The values has to comply to the referred supply system in <propulsion>.
The power values are given in Watt. The attribute power is mandatory. All other attributes are optional.
The phase shift values are between -180..+180 degrees.

Notes / Anmerkungen

In general the auxiliaries of a train are supplied from the locomotive. Therefore the element is available for vehicles with the element <engine> only. The location as child of <propulsion> allows the adjustment of specified values according to the supply system.
The values for power and resistance can be given independently. This means the total auxiliary power consumption is calculated by the sum of power value plus voltage divided by resistance. The values given for braking mode are added to the permanent consumption.
